Connect WordPress to VS Code
To use WordPress in VS Code, connect your WordPress account in Manyplug and add Manyplug to VS Code once. VS Code then gets 9 WordPress tools, for example: “Posts”, “Get a post”, and “New draft”. It takes about 3 minutes and works on the free plan.
Connect WordPress Free plan, no card
1. Connect WordPress in Manyplug
Click “Connect WordPress” and paste the key or app password into Manyplug’s form:
Your site address, user name and a WordPress application password. Takes about two minutes.
- Sign in to your site’s admin and open Users → Profile. How application passwords work
- At the bottom, under Application Passwords, enter the name Manyplug and click Add New Application Password.
- Copy the 24-character password (the spaces can stay).
- In the form, enter the site address without https:// (for example blog.acme.com), your user name and the application password.
- Needs WordPress 5.6 or newer over HTTPS. If the section is missing, a security plugin may have turned it off.
- The AI only creates drafts. Publishing is a separate action that needs your confirmation.
- You can revoke the application password in the same profile section; your normal password stays.
2. Add Manyplug to VS Code
GitHub Copilot in agent mode.
- Click “Install in VS Code” or add the server to .vscode/mcp.json.
{ "servers": { "manyplug": { "type": "http", "url": "https://manyplug.com/mcp" } } } - Start the server in the MCP list and sign in when VS Code asks.
3. Ask VS Code
- Which drafts do I have in WordPress?
- Write a draft post about the new feature launch from these notes.
- Publish the “Year in review” post tomorrow at 9 am.
- Which comments are waiting for moderation? Mark the spam.

Questions
Can I connect two WordPress accounts to VS Code?
Yes. Connect each one in Manyplug under its own name, for example Work and Personal. VS Code can use one of them or all at once.
Will VS Code change anything in WordPress without asking?
By default these actions wait for your approval before they run: “Publish”. Other changes follow your rules, which you can make stricter per account.
Do I need an official WordPress MCP server for this?
No. Manyplug connects to WordPress itself with a key or app password you paste into its form, and gives VS Code the tools through one MCP address, together with your other services.
Is it free to connect VS Code to Manyplug?
Yes. New workspaces get 14 days of Pro free, then the free plan keeps going with 150 actions a month and up to 3 connected accounts. No card needed. Paid plans start at $5 a month.
Does VS Code see my passwords or API keys?
No. Keys are entered on Manyplug’s own pages, stored encrypted with a separate key per account, and the AI only receives tool results.
