Connect GitHub to Codex

To use GitHub in Codex, connect your GitHub account in Manyplug and add Manyplug to Codex once. Codex then gets 9 GitHub tools, for example: “Search issues and pull requests”, “Issue or pull request”, and “Comments”. It takes about 4 minutes and works on the free plan.

1. Connect GitHub in Manyplug

Click “Connect GitHub” and paste the key or app password into Manyplug’s form:

A fine-grained personal access token. Takes about two minutes.

  1. Open GitHub → Settings → Developer settings → Fine-grained tokens and click Generate new token.Create a token on GitHub
  2. Name it Manyplug, choose an expiry and, under Repository access, the repositories the AI may use.
  3. Under Permissions, set Issues and Pull requests to Read and write, and Contents to Read-only.
  4. Click Generate token, copy it (github_pat_…) and paste it into the form.
  • When the token expires, the account shows “Sign in again”: create a new token and paste it with Reconnect.

2. Add Manyplug to Codex

Questions

Can I connect two GitHub accounts to Codex?
Yes. Connect each one in Manyplug under its own name, for example Work and Personal. Codex can use one of them or all at once.
Will Codex change anything in GitHub without asking?
Changes follow your rules: you can make every change in GitHub wait for your approval, or let Codex only read.
Do I need an official GitHub MCP server for this?
No. Manyplug connects to GitHub itself with a key or app password you paste into its form, and gives Codex the tools through one MCP address, together with your other services.
Is it free to connect Codex to Manyplug?
Yes. New workspaces get 14 days of Pro free, then the free plan keeps going with 150 actions a month and up to 3 connected accounts. No card needed. Paid plans start at $5 a month.
Does Codex see my passwords or API keys?
No. Keys are entered on Manyplug’s own pages, stored encrypted with a separate key per account, and the AI only receives tool results.
