To use Smartsheet in Codex, connect your Smartsheet account in Manyplug and add Manyplug to Codex once. Codex then gets 6 Smartsheet tools, for example: “Sheets”, “Search”, and “Get a sheet”. It takes about 4 minutes and works on the free plan.

1. Connect Smartsheet in Manyplug

Click “Connect Smartsheet” and paste the key or app password into Manyplug’s form:

Click Generate new access token, name it Manyplug and copy it.
Paste the token into the form. EU or Australian account? Pick your region.

The token acts as you and sees the same sheets you do.

Codex CLI and the IDE extension.

Add the server to ~/.codex/config.toml.

Yes. Connect each one in Manyplug under its own name, for example Work and Personal. Codex can use one of them or all at once.

Will Codex change anything in Smartsheet without asking?

Changes follow your rules: you can make every change in Smartsheet wait for your approval, or let Codex only read.

Do I need an official Smartsheet MCP server for this?
