Connect Jira to Claude Code

To use Jira in Claude Code, connect your Jira account in Manyplug and add Manyplug to Claude Code once. Claude Code then gets 10 Jira tools, for example: “Search issues”, “Get an issue”, and “List comments”. It takes about 3 minutes and works on the free plan.

1. Connect Jira in Manyplug

Click “Connect Jira” and paste the key or app password into Manyplug’s form:

Your Jira address, email and an API token. Takes about two minutes.

Open your Atlassian API tokens page and click Create API token (the one without scopes).Open Atlassian API tokens
Name it Manyplug, pick an expiry date and click Create.
Copy the token: Atlassian shows it only once.
In the form, enter your site name (acme for acme.atlassian.net), the email you sign in to Atlassian with, and the token.

The AI sees in Jira what you see. To cut access, revoke the token on the same page.

2. Add Manyplug to Claude Code

Terminal, VS Code and JetBrains.

Run the command in a terminal.

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user manyplug https://manyplug.com/mcp

Start claude, type /mcp, pick manyplug and sign in in the browser.

Can I connect two Jira accounts to Claude Code?

Yes. Connect each one in Manyplug under its own name, for example Work and Personal. Claude Code can use one of them or all at once.

Will Claude Code change anything in Jira without asking?

By default these actions wait for your approval before they run: “Delete an issue”. Other changes follow your rules, which you can make stricter per account.

Do I need an official Jira MCP server for this?
